Kano Pillars appoint Okey Emordi as head coach

Okey Emordi is the new coach of Kano Pillars
The Nigeria Premier League defending champions have filled the void left by Baba Ganaru's departure with the former Enyimba trainer
Kano Pillars have appointed Okey Emordi as the new Technical Adviser of the club for the duration of one season.
The Pyramid Boys won the Nigeria Premier League back to back with former coach Baba Ganaru, who has since quit the club after five years for Nasarawa United of Lafia.
Confirming the appointment, the Chairman of the club, Abba Yola said: “The selection of Emordi is based on the approval of Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as requested by the board and this takes immediate effect.”
The administrator of the Kano-based club further disclosed that the team has been fully mobilised for the two-leg CAF Champions League opening tie.
Pillars begin their Champions League campaign away to AS Vita of DR Congo next month.
Emordi, who was the former head coach of Enugu Rangers and also led Enyimba to hoisting the 2004 CAF Champions League trophy, will be assisted by his former backroom staff at the Peoples Elephant, Abdu Maikaba.
In a remark, Abba Yola commended the Kano state governor for his concerns and support to the club, promising that the management will not disappoint.
“We are grateful to the Kano State governor and the people of Kano for the support. We are focused on ensuring the club continue to soar at the zenith and also become the giant of African leagues,” he added.
