10, 000 Fans To Cheer Eagles In Brazil
President-General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr. Rauf Ladipo, has hinted that the Super Eagles would get the backing of over 10, 000 fans during their campaign at the World Cup in Brazil.
Ladipo who dropped the hint in Lagos last Tuesday, at the Tom Tom Go to Brazil Media Launch, disclosed that he was in Brazil for 11 days mobilizing Nigerians resident in all the major cities in the Samba nation, ahead of the World Cup billed to kick off in June.
“Let me assure you that the Super Eagles will not lack support in Brazil during the World Cup” he declared while addressing Coach Stephen Keshi at the event.
“I was in Brazil for 11 days and I visited all the major cities to mobilize over 10, 000 Nigerians living in Brazil to come out en masse to support the Super Eagles during the World Cup in June” he revealed.
“We’ve almost concluded arrangements to storm Brazil with 500 members of the supporters Club from Nigeria. The only challenge we have is that of funds and we are appealing to the government and corporate bodies, including the organizers of this event, Tom Tom, to support us to Brazil to cheer the Super Eagles” he pleaded.
Ladipo reminded the Super Eagles’ coach that Nigerians expect a lot from the Super Eagles at the World Cup stressing that the players must be prepared to raise their game above the disappointing showing at the Confederations Cup in Brazil last year.
“We’re a bit disappointed with the Super Eagles’ performance during the Confederation Cup. You need to psyche up the players to give more than 100 per cent during the World Cup. I expect the Super Eagles to play in the semi-final” Ladipo tasked keshi.
