Drogba Set For Chelsea Return
Didier Drogba could return to Chelsea THIS week. The Ivory Coast star is a free agent after leaving Galatasaray and is set to be handed a one-year deal at Stamford Bridge, with Jose Mourinho hoping the 36-year-old will also take up a coaching role.
James Rodriguez has told Monaco he will not play a minute of
pre-season as he bids to force though a move to Real Madrid. The
Colombian does not want to risk injury in friendlies and his stance
could force the Ligue 1 side to accept Madrid's bid.
Mazzarri still wants to bring in a striker to complete his project of
re-building Inter and the club are negotiationg with Manchester City
for Stevan Jovetic. It will be either be a loan or a transfer with
structured payments.
A trio of Premier League clubs - Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle -
have been put off a move for Micah Richards because of Manchester
City's €9 million valuation. The 26-year-old is now expected to ask for a
loan as he seeks first-team football.
Liverpool and Southampton have finally struck a deal for centre-back
Dejan Lovren. The Reds will pay around €20 million for the Croatian, who
has already agreed a four-year contract with the Anfield outfit, with
an announcement due imminently.
Tottenham may be close to sealing a double deal for Michel Vorm and
Ben Davies (with Gylfi Sigurdsson and €6m going the other way) but they
are already hunting for more signings and are exploring the possibility
of buying Roma's Mattia Destro.
Swansea City are closing in on a deal for Marseille's Dimitri Payet.
The south Wales outfit are keen to strengthen their attack after Michu
left for Napoli and hope to conclude a €8 million deal for the
27-year-old, who is keen to join the Swans.
Morgan Schneiderlin would rather join Tottenham than Arsenal this
summer. The Gunners are thought to be keen on the France international,
but he would prefer to be reunited with former Southampton boss Mauricio
Pochettino at White Hart Lane.
Manchester United are prepared to offer Arturo Vidal a bumper
€12.5m-a-year salary, a wage packet only matched by Robin van Persie at
Old Trafford. The Red Devils are determined to sign the Chilean, though
want assurances over a recent knee injury.
Arsenal are considering a move for Argentina international full-back
Gino Peruzzi. The Gunners are set to begin negotiations for the defender
this week with Catania.
