29 Nyanya Blast Victims Still In Hospital
No fewer than 29 victims of
Nyanya bomb blast are still receiving treatment for varying degrees of
injuries at the various hospitals in the Federal Capital Territory,
three weeks after the attack.
It was learnt that 30 victims who had been certified fit were discharged last Thursday from the National Hospital, and the Maitama District Hospital, Asokoro.
The Chief Press Secretary to the FCT minister, Mohammed Sule who confirmed this, explained that the medical bills of all the blast victims were being paid by the FCT Administration as the Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed promised.
Sule dismissed reports that the Administration had neglected the blast victims, adding that the government had also taken care of the medical bills of patients who were referred to some private hospitals for specialist treatment.
He said that a blast victim who discharged himself from the Maitama District Hospital and checked into a private hospital was however not covered because he did not follow the due process by notifying the government before doing so.
The CPS said,”As of Thursday last week, we have 29 blast victims still receiving treatment in various government and private hospitals in the FCT and all their medical bills are being borne by the FCT Administration.
“The FCT Minister and the Health Minister both promised to take care of the bills and that is being done. We have records of all the patients and everything that is being done for them as directed by the minister.”
