Didier Drogba Travels To Qatar For Groin Surgery
The Elephants’ captain will undergo an operation in
Doha following a lingering groin sprain sustained at his Turkish club
Galatasaray
Cote D’Ivoire international and Galatasaray striker Didier Drogba is
currently in Doha in Qatar preparing to undergo a minor surgery to
repair a groin injury picked at his Turkish club Galatasaray, officials
at the Cote D’Ivoire Football Federation (FIF) have confirmed.The operation will take place at the Aspetar Centre in Doha, which recently signed an agreement with the Ivorian FA to provide medical assistance to the national team before and during the upcoming World Cup.
The director of the hospital Dr Khalifa al Jeham Kuwari will be in charge of the operation, according to local officials, who have also assured the 36-year-old former Chelsea star would recover soon and be able to participate at the World Cup.
Drogba is yet to clarify his future at Galatasaray and talks for a renewal of contract are yet to open between his agent and the Cimbom.
The Elephants will open their World Cup campaign in Group C against Japan at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife on June 14, before subsequently facing the other two members of the group Colombia and Greece.
