Kenneth Okonkwo VS Kanayo O. Kanayo: Who Is The Most Daring Actor?
Ever since Living in Bondage hit TV screens to wide acclaim, Nollywood has no doubt churned out numerous ritual and cult-based movies and consequently attracted a lot of flak from around the world as foreigners perceive Nigerians as a juju and voodoo practicing people.
However, Nollywood practitioners have risen in defence of the industry, declaring that movies are indeed a reflection of society.
For this week’s Showdown, it’s a face-off between two of Nollywood’s most celebrated actors, Kenneth Okonkwo and Kanayo O Kanayo aka KOK.
Kenneth Okonkwo:
Actor, producer and businessman, Kenneth Arinzechukwu Okonkwo aka Andy Okeke, is adjudged one of Nollywood’s most popular faces courtesy of his superlative lead role interpretation in Living in Bondage. An indigene of Nsukka, Enugu State, Okonkwo holds double degrees in Management and International Law & Diplomacy, including a certificate in Theology. He made his debut in Living in Bondage in 1992 and has featured in several blockbusters. He has also won several awards including 2009 and 2011 Best African Actor Award by the Zulu African Film Academy Awards (ZAFA).

KOK is more daring –Lawal Olugbade, lab scientist
KOK is ruthless playing cultist roles and I think his role
interpretation skills go beyond acting. As an African, I think it’s
either he got the experience from peers in school or that he was brought
up in an environment where he had cultists and ritualists around him;
the guy is good!
It’s Kenneth Okonkwo – Gabriel Ogundipe – lecturer
Nobody can deny the fact that Andy Okeke (Kenneth Okonkwo) of the Living in Bondage fame was awesome in that evergreen blockbuster; he still is. However, it should be pointed out that being daring in a movie is just make-belief and doesn’t imply that the artiste is the same in real life. I think Okonkwo is more daring.
We had great fear for both actors as kids –Queen Akachukwu, economist
As kids, we had great fear for both actors and thought that they were actually acting out their real natures. We had sleepless nights after watching them. Both of them could be very daring. The only difference is that Kenneth Okonkwo usually shows remorse. But as for KOK, no way!
KOK is the most daring actor in Africa –Joshua Dokubor, telecom dealer
I do not think there is any artiste in Africa that could be more daring than KOK when it comes to playing ritual or occultic roles. I just hope he is not acting out his real life’s character because he is so good at it.
Give it to KOK
– Gregory John, artiste
The famous movie, Living in Bondage, brought out the most daring sides of the two veterans as Andy Okeke and Chief Omego. Both of them were extremely daring in that movie and subsequent ones. But KOK’s daring is unequalled.
KOK is my man any day – Ifeoma Chukwukelu, civil servant
The answer is not far-fetched. It’s KOK. Kenneth Okonkwo is not ‘heartless and mean’ unlike KOK. In fact, I don’t think you did your pairing right. Andy is on the soft side while KOK is hard. I have never watched KOK show remorse unlike Okonkwo.
KOK is more daring –Bunmi Omadeli, accountant
I think KOK is smarter and more daring compared to Kenneth Okonkwo. KOK doesn’t need anybody to egg him on to do evil in movies but Okonkwo does. That is probably why KOK gets better results than Kenneth Okonkwo in occult movies.
KOK carries the day –Peace Odiche, undergraduate
It’s is all about make-belief. I think that KOK will carry the day any day.
Kenneth Okonkwo is better in soft roles –Josh Davids, undergraduate
Kenneth Okonkwo is naturally a soft spoken individual as far as I’m concerned. In spite of his superlative performance in Living in Bondage and a few other movies, he shines better acting soft roles. But KOK is a hard to the core.
