Maigari, Amadu, No Where Near Glass House
Despite fulfilling the legal requirements stipulated by the world
soccer governing body, FIFA, as conditions for lifting the suspension
clamped on Nigeria and reinstating the current board, the headquarters
of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), in Abuja was a shadow of its
former self yesterday, due to the failure of Alhaji Aminu Maigari, and
his General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu, to return to the Glass
House.
Following the vacation of the order by Jos High Court on Wednesday, a battery of sports writers who had waited for hours at the Wuse Zone 7 secretariat of the football federation in anticipation of the return of the duo yesterday were disappointed when none of them or any of the board members surfaced until the close of work.
Some of the board members, who spoke to Daily Sunsports on condition of anonymity hinged the situation on fears and anxiety from the Maigari camp that the security agents might still swoop on them.
A top NFF official pointed out that though the order had been vacated, it would be impossible to expect the immediate resumption of the soccer buffs since all the parties involved in the rift, are still strategizing on how to outsmart each other.
He revealed that the different camps are holding meetings at secret locations both in and outside Abuja.
“How do you think that any of Musa or Maigari would come to the Glass House today? Don’t you know that as we speak, meetings are going on within and outside Abuja. Have you also forgotten that in the wake of the crisis, some of the board members were declared wanted by the security agents? They will definitely not come out of hiding immediately for fear of arrests. They would prefer to hold secret meetings where security agents will not get them,” he stated.
