Milan Derby Goal Excites Joel Obi

After scoring Inter Milan’s equaliser in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against AC Milan at the San Siro in the Italian Serie A, Super Eagles midfielder, Joel Obi, believes the club can achieve much under new coach, Roberto Mancini. The midfielder, who was making his 10th appearance in all competitions for Inter, scored his first Serie A goal of the season in the 61st minute after Jeremy Menez had scored for hosts, Milan, in the 23rd minute. Obi, who was substituted in the 72nd minute for Brazilian Hernanes, told the club’s official website that he had looked forward to playing the match. He said, “I’m happy to have scored. We really wanted to win it. We ended up drawing but we’ll take that all the same. “We worked hard during the week. The gaffer had tried me out in that position but we were all ready to play. “Mancini has some tactical ideas that I think we can really benefit from. We have more options playing with this formation and more alternatives for us midfielders.” Obi’s teammate Juan Jesus added that the team’s attention was focused on their Europa League match against Dnipro on Thursday. “I think we did a pretty good job. We’re still not completely used to all the movements we have to make but the gaffer is helping us and it’ll come. I need to keep learning and improving myself so that I don’t make any mistakes at all. “Thursday’s going to be a tough game but we have to win it so that we can put the group stage to bed.” Source:punch
