I Felt Great – Chukwunonye Josephine

The Super Falcons defender, Josephine Chukwunonye who had a great game against Mali in the women’s All African Games qualifying game in Abuja on Friday 10th April, said she felt great after the game. The Falcons thrashed their Malian counterparts 8 – 0 to qualify for the All African Games. The 11th African Games are scheduled for September 4–19, 2015 in Brazzaville, Congo. This edition marks the 50th anniversary of the Games, as well as their return to Brazzaville, which hosted the first edition in 1965. Meanwhile, the home based U-23 Falcons remained in their Abuja camp to continue preparation for the up-coming Olympics qualifier and the Women’s World Cup, while the foreign based players returned to their various clubs. Josephine, who hails from Nwangele LGA in Imo state and from Umuozu community in particular, has been representing Nigeria since 2008. She was a member of FIFA U17 World Cup, New Zealand in 2008. She missed out of the FIFA U20 in Germany in 2010 because of her father’s death but she played all the qualifying matches with the team. Joe was a member of the Super Falcons for AWC 2010 in South Africa, FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 in Germany with Super Falcons, Guinea AWC 2012 and the victorious 2014 AWC in Namibia. She was also a member of FIFA U 20, Japan 2012. ‘My dream is to play abroad’ she said, in a chat with blogger Martins Onuoha. Josephine Chinwendu Chukwunonye looks forward to representing Nigeria in any match where she is called upon. The slim, gentle and quiet defender, who does the talking in the field in the form of her performance, is an ever-present in the Nigeria women football team defense.
