John-Mikel-Obi
Mikel John Obi has set his sights on qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia with the Super Eagles.
The Chelsea midfielder, captained Nigeria’s U-23 team to winning the bronze medal in the men’s football event of the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
“Nigeria is a massive country and a footballing country as well, so where we are now in terms of football is not where we want to be,” Mikel Obi told Newsweek.
“Let’s hope this [the bronze medal] can motivate the national team.
“Now we have the World Cup qualifiers coming up, we have to be ready for that.
“We have to make sure we prepare well and qualify for the World Cup.”
Nigeria, who recently appointed Gernot Rohr as technical adviser, are drawn in Group B along with Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia.

  1. Sweden will meet Netherlands in today's game played at Friends Arena, from Solna, Stockholm. In their last meeting, Sweden won the match with 3:2. I wonder if Louis van Gaal's team prepared us with a surprise for today. Based on the past results of the two teams, I would expect for this game to be quite balanced and finish in a draw. It should be interesting to see if Vincent Janssen will score during this match as he has a good average in terms of goals scored / match.
