Plateau United emerge 2017 NPFL champions

Plateau United are the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions for 2017.

The Jos club clinched the title on the last day of the season, after defeating immediate past champions Enugu Rangers 2-0 on Saturday.

Plateau finished with 66 points from 38 fixtures, finishing four points ahead of second-placed MFM FC.

The Olukoya Boys who were in with a chance to win the title on the last day, were beaten 2-1 at El-Kanemi Warriors.

Enyimba won 1-0 at home to Katsina United and finished third.

In the other games, Akwa United thrashed Kano Pillars 3-0, Shooting Stars were relegated following a 2-0 defeat at Niger Tornadoes, Abia Warriors outclassed Rivers United 4-1 and Nasarawa United saw off already-relegated ABS 2-1.
